Salad and Pasta from Mary Grace

After picking up the queen from the airport, we went straight to Mary Grace in Greenbelt.  We usually dine Al Fresco but we felt that the heat was a bit oppressive and decided to dine inside the restaurant instead.

Salad and Pasta were the dishes that we selected for this meal.

Would you like to try dried fish salad dressing?  This is what the queen ordered.  It tasted like anchovies dressing - and I never liked Anchovies.

The funny thing is that I don't like Anchovies but I like Caesar Salad.  That's what I ordered.  I remember when I was vegetarian - I once ordered Caesar Salad and someone pointed out that Caesar Salad dressing has anchovies.  So I guess - I wasn't really vegetarian.

Shrimp on creamy dressing is always good.   Mary Grace's version does not disappoint.

I decided to try the Cream Dory pasta.  Mmmmm.  I love this dish. and I totally recommend it to anyone who loves fish on their pasta.

For dessert, we had good old Apple pie.

Can You Read my Mind?

Seeing Midori in the Superman costume got me singing to the tune of Superman's theme: "Can you Read my Mind?"  I do ask that sometimes.  Can dogs read human minds?  If they can read our minds,  what do they do with the information that they gather from that mind-reading activity?

Can you Read my Mind
Theme from Superman

Can you read my mind?
Do you know what it is you do to me?
Don't know who you are,
Just a friend from another star

Here I am like a kid at a school
Holding hands with a god, I'm a fool
Will you look at me quivering
Like a little girl shivering?
You can see right through me

Can you read my mind?
Can you picture the things I'm thinking of?
Wondering why you are
All the wonderful things you are

You can fly, you belong to the sky
You and I could belong to each other

If you need a friend,
I'm the one to fly to
If you need to be loved, (to be loved)
Here I am, read my mind!

INSTRUMENTAL BRIDGE

Will you look at me quivering
Like a little girl shivering?
You can see right through me

If you need a friend,
I'm the one to fly to
If you need to be loved,
Here I am, read my mind!

Read my mind!

I got my Viktor Jeans

I finally got the finished product from Viktor jeans.

According to the store staff, jeans should only be washed once a year.  I'm sure my mom will have a fit if she hears those instructions.  They also said that it should be hand washed.  Oh my God.  I don't think I can find a laundry woman who would be willing to hand wash denim.  Who are they kidding?

Viktor's tag line:  "A good pair can get you laid."   As if that's the only thing that I'm concerned with.  I want to be loved too you know.

I can't wait to wear this pair.  They're actually not perfect.  There is a bit of crease at the bum part that the staff said will go away after wash and wear.   I am not sure I believe that but I will wait.  If it still doesn't go away after the first wash - I'll go back to the store and have them fix it.

Bespoke is all about the details.  This is one of them that I chose when I got the pair. Having a leather hoop in the form of a V can be added onto your Jeans for an additional fee.

So far - I'm happy with this pair.  Time to put their company mission to the test.  Wink. Wink.

Pasalubong from Cebu and Bohol

The queen paid a visit to the Queen City of the South - Cebu.  She also took a quick ferry ride to check out it's neighboring province Bohol.  She came home bearing gifts.  Pasalubong is a Tagalog word for gifts that people bring when they come home or visit a place.  Salubong literally means welcome.  So I guess Pasalubong means gifts I bear so you give me a good welcome.

Nutty Cheese Tart

Peanut Kisses

Mangorind.  Candy made of Mango and Tamarind

Peanut Fingers

Dried Green Mangoes
The best of them all - Fish Tocino ( Fish Bacon )

Yema Cake from Caroline

I was at Greenbelt last weekend to pick up my Jeans from Viktor.  They had a hard time looking for my pair - so I decided to walk around the mall.  Going through Greenbelt 1,  I found that Greenbelt 1 is now setup with pastry stands similar to what you can find in the bakers' market in Rockwell.

Don't tell my trainer - but I could not resist the temptation of the yema cake from Caroline.  I love yema ( the candy ) - so having a cake with yema frosting is something that I will not be able to resists.   My grandmother used to make yema cake when we were young.  I used to volunteer as her helper every time she makes it.  So I guess you can say that apart from my overgrown sweet tooth,  eating yema cake brings back memories of my grandma.

Fight and Consequence

Char Siew comes from a fighting breed ( the Shar Pei ).   I come from a hunting breed.  This just means that we require a lot of activities to expend our excess energy.  Most of the time - that translates to us horsing around the house of queens.

Daddy.  We're bored.  Can we play?

Midori:  Ooh. I love playing with you Char Siew.  The skin around your neck is so loose that I can grab it with ease.

Char Siew: The skin around your neck is taut.  I can't get much out of it.

Char Siew:  But your ears are big.  They're a much easier target.

So Char Siew and I end up playing but we really get into it that sometimes - we bump onto the furniture and Daddy has to stop us.  Or sometimes - we draw blood.  Accidentally.  That's when Daddy tells us to stop.

Midori: I'm sorry Daddy.  I didn't mean to hurt Char Siew.
Char Siew:  I can't even look at you Daddy.  I'm sorry I caused that vase to fall and break.

Once we are made to stop.  Daddy asks us to stay in our corner.  I go to my bed and Char Siew is made to take the down position by Daddy's bedroom door.

Char Siew's Favorite Toy

Dog toys don't need to be expensive to be fun.  In the case of Char Siew - his favorite toy is made of my old socks with a tennis ball inside.  The tennis ball came from the nearby Makati Sports club - so we didn't even have to buy it.   He loves this toy because he can pretend it's a hapless prey that he can kill for dinner.

Daddy, may I play with my favorite toy.

Woohoo.  Time to pretend this is a rodent.  I need to smell it first to make sure.

Nom Nom Nom

Daddy, Whatcha looking at?

Stop watching me!

Never mind.  I will just pull on this sock ( limbs ).

This is tiring.

Oh.  I love playing with this toy!

Waiting for Din Din

This is our favorite place to hangout in the house:  Next to the oven - while watching Nanny cook.  Nanny doesn't like it when we stay there since she's afraid she'll trip over us so she makes us stay somewhere else while she cooks hot soups.

The Original New Bombay

New Bombay has opened so many outlets around the metro but it all started in this tiny cafeteria like place found near the Mormon temple on De La Costa st. in Salcedo Village.  We discovered it years ago when we were looking for an Indian restaurant in the neighborhood.  We liked the food back then - but I know that my Indian friends will call it Cafeteria food.  Well - it has changed a lot since then - especially when all the other outlets opened.  The place was renovated and the menu has definitely expanded.

We dined at the original outlet last weekend.  The highlight of that dining experience is the Sweet Nan that we ordered.  We used to order this in another restaurant but they discontinued it.  But we really have a sweet tooth in the house of queens so we asked if we can have the cook prepare this for us.  They did and it was delicious.

The other dishes that we ordered were equally scrumptious.  It included the Fish Goan Curry.

We also ordered this curried chicken with nuts and onion.  Oh - I love this dish.

We also ordered Raita to cool down the spices of the dishes we ordered.

We always order the Palak Paneer.

And for refreshment we had the Strawberry lassi.
