I woke up early on Saturday to go to Sanrio Puroland. If my analysis is correct, Puroland comes from the word “Pure-land”. Purity which roughly translates to the innocence of youth. The 80s children like me were first introduced to the citizens of Sanrio Puroland as kids. They were Asia’s answer to the Disney and Looneytoons characters. However – the Sanrio characters were cute and innocent – unlike their deviously cute western counterparts.
I wasn’t going to the amusement park for the rides. I was there purely for one thing: to meet the most famous lady from Japan: Kitty. The effort yielded success. This gracious lady allowed us to have a picture taken with her.
